Mentoring

 Mentoring

You have a project and you need some personalized help.

Here’s how it works. You submit pages to me, about ten and I pre-read. We meet in person, on the phone or via skype and talk through what’s going on with your work. My gift is to see what you can’t see and then give you homework, edits and advice. You will grow as a writer and you will see immediate results. One on one work is my most popular and I book up pretty far in advance. Send me an email at jennifer@jenniferlauck.com and let’s see if we can get you in and help you become a better writer.

CONTACT: Email me to arrange our time together.

  1. I met with Jennifer via Skype the other day and it was awesome! The fact that I could get advice on my manuscript from a NY Times Best Selling author at such an affordable price was frankly, unbelievable. Jennifer is kind, genuine and uplifting. It is obvious that her goal is to help people, like myself, to fulfill their dream of publishing a book. She gave me so many great ideas and helped to make my vision more clear on the direction of my book. I’m amazed at how she was able to simultaneously listen AND make grammatical errors (on the computer screen!) to my work as I read it to her (thank you!!!) After only reading a few pages, Jennifer was intuitively able to grasp the concept of my unique idea and immediately hone in on what edits needed to be done. Her ability to LISTEN and make suggestions was extremely helpful. I truly appreciated her enthusiasm and encouragement..it meant so much to me. I can’t wait until me meet again! Sincerely, Melissa DeBiase

If anyone is looking for the best teacher, Jennifer is the one. Not only is she right on the spot with her teachings, craft and intuition, the price cannot be beaten.
A year ago I had sent $3500 (yes thirty five hundred) to Rebecca Walker to read my manuscript. She wouldn’t touch it without the money. It took her at least 4 months for any kind of communication and that came from her assistant. All sorts of promises were made about working together on Skype. That never materialized.
Not very much came from her short assessment of my manuscript. When i asked for a partial refund because I was not satisfied with the work she obviously had NOT put into it, she told me there were no refunds.
So my 3500 went right out the window.
Make sure you can trust whomever you choose, but for my money and the incredible amount of knowledge I’ve gotten, Jennifer offers exactly what any memoir writer needs.

I used Walker too. I didn’t pay nearly that much but it might have been earlier in her editing career or maybe I sent less pages? Who knows. She did give some valuable feedback, but it was way overpriced for what I got. No victim here. It was an expensive lesson which forced me to examine exactly why I chose that particular editor.

Jennifer is definitely the real deal. I doubt many writing teachers give as much as she does. I’ve been to at least three of her workshops and they have been worth WAY more than she charges.

I found Jennifer’s help invaluable. I do have a separate writing coach, but Jennifer is one of the best when it comes to writing memoir. She had me see that I’m the heroine in my book and I want readers to cheer me for me, not someone else. Those words were key to me rewriting the opening chapter and adding about 10 more in the beginning of the book. Once I spoke to Jennifer, the structure of my book also took shape in my head and I could immediately translate her coaching to paper. I was clear and confident after getting off of the phone with her. Thanks Jennifer!
